The Rivers State Police Command has rescued five years old Favour Emmanuel, who was stolen and then sold for N600,000 by her aunt.

According to the reports, the parents were almost beginning to lose hope of locating her, when the Rivers State Police Command took over the investigation. The parents’ joy knew no bounds when the Favour, who was stolen in Rivers State, was tracked, and found in Imo State. A thorough investigation by police operatives revealed that the child was sold by her aunt.

The aunt, incidentally, was said to have joined in the search party for the supposed missing child. Nobody knew that she was the enemy within.

The discovery and revelation by the police that she was the culprit, sent shockwaves down the spines of many family members.

The Rivers State Commissioner of Police, Friday Eboka, explained that the case was reported at Isiokpo Division by Progress Emmanuel 24th 2022.

The case was then later transferred to the CP monitoring Unit on the 4th of May, and the operatives, working on the directives of the CP, immediately swung into action.

Eboka said: “The child was reported missing since 20th May 2022, at Omagwa in Ikwere Local Government Area, Rivers State. Further investigation revealed that the child was stolen and sold to a couple in Owerri in Imo State for the sum of N600, 000, by the complainant’s elder sister, identified as Edith Ejike, 30. She has been arrested alongside two of her alleged accomplices, Prince Ugun, 34, and Nkiruka Samuel, 26.

“They all confess to the crime and will be charged to court as soon as the investigation is over. The child has been handed over to her parents,” said Eboka.
