Suspected Cultists Arrested After Violent Robbery Operation in Ogun

-

Operatives of the Ogun State Police Command have arrested four suspected cultists over an alleged assault and armed robbery incident in Ilaro, recovering a locally made pistol, an axe, charms, and a stolen iPhone.

The suspects  Samson John, 25; Olufowora Michael, 28; Odeh Samuel Ejeh, 25; and Olajide Jeremiah, 28  were apprehended by officers from the Ilaro Division following a complaint lodged at the station.

According to police spokesperson, DSP Oluseyi Babaseyi, the incident was reported on April 16, 2026, at about 11:30 p.m. The complainant alleged that earlier that day, around 1:00 p.m., Samson John, alongside six others still at large, stormed his residence, assaulted him, threatened him with an axe, and robbed him of his iPhone 14 Pro Max.

“Upon swift response and subsequent investigation, the suspects were apprehended,” Babaseyi said, adding that “one locally made pistol, an axe, suspected charms, and the stolen iPhone were recovered during the operation.”

The suspects are currently in police custody, while efforts are ongoing to arrest other members of the gang who fled the scene. The case has been transferred to the State Criminal Investigation Department (SCID) for further investigation and prosecution.

The Commissioner of Police in Ogun State, Bode Ojajuni, commended the operatives for their prompt response and professionalism.

He reiterated the command’s zero tolerance for cultism and other violent crimes, assuring residents that criminal elements would be decisively dealt with. #Securitynewsalert.com
