The Lagos State Police Public Relations Officer (PPRO), Benjamin Hundeyin, said that three physically challenged suspects, Mande Bello, Samsudeen Usman and Gazali, have been arrested after they allegedly attempted to kill a cyclist and snatch his tricycle in the State.
Hundeyin said that the matter was reported at Denton Police Station by a physically challenged tricycle rider.
Hundeyin explained: “On the 10th of October 2024, at about 3:pm, a complainant, who is a physically challenged tricycle rider, reported at Denton Police station that on the 9th of October, 2024, at about 2 am, he gave a ride at Boson Roundabout Oyingbo, to the trio of Mande Bello, 30, Samsudeen Usman, 23 and Gazali surname unknown, all physically challenged from general Pay Aja.
“He further stated that they begged him to drop them off at the Third Mainland Bridge intersection which he initially declined. The complaint however noted that when he attempted to drop them at the intersection, Mande Bello brought out a cable wire to strangulate him. He said that they wrestled them and forcibly turned back to Okobaba with two of the suspects, Mande Bello And Samsudeen Usman, while Gazali escaped at the scene.
“On receiving the case, two suspects were arrested, and their statement was recorded. The preliminary investigation revealed that the three suspects specialise in snatching tricycles from unsuspecting public members in the state. The investigation is ongoing and effort is on to apprehend the fleeing suspect.”
