The Ogun State Police Command has said three suspects will be arraigned before the Ago-Iwoye Magistrate Court over alleged obstruction and serious assault of police officers performing their lawful duties.
The suspects are Alaba Mulika, 51; Alawode Iyanu, 21; and Temitope Saliu, 29.
According to the command, the suspects are expected to be charged on five counts bordering on conspiracy, obstruction of police officers, alleged serious assault on police officers and conduct likely to cause a breach of peace.
The case followed an incident on September 29, 2026, when a police team led by ASP Akeredolu Emmanuel intercepted an unregistered Toyota Camry at Fibigbade Street, Ago-Iwoye.
The police said that while the vehicle was being conveyed to the station, a Toyota Highlander with registration number JJJ 215 JV allegedly blocked its movement at Abobi Street.
A physical confrontation reportedly followed, during which INSPR Abolarinwa Wasiu and CPL Olubamiro Adeniyi were allegedly assaulted.
The command said video recordings of the incident, which later circulated on social media, formed part of the materials reviewed during the investigation.
Following a directive by the Commissioner of Police, CP Bode Ojajuni, detectives investigated the circumstances surrounding the incident, visited the scene and arrested the three suspects.
The command said the investigation was ordered by the Commissioner to establish the facts surrounding the alleged obstruction and assault of the officers.
The suspects are expected to appear before the Ago-Iwoye Magistrate Court today, October 3, 2026.
The Commissioner of Police reiterated that the safety and protection of police officers carrying out lawful duties remained a priority of the command.
He urged members of the public to channel complaints against police officers through lawful mechanisms rather than resorting to physical confrontation.
The command said further updates would be communicated as developments warrant.
