President Bola Ahmed Tinubu has formally joined a request by the U.S. Department of Justice seeking a 10-day extension to file a response in an ongoing lawsuit over the release of records linking him to alleged drug trafficking, according to a report by SaharaReporters.
In a notice of joinder submitted to the U.S. District Court for the District of Columbia, Tinubu’s attorneys aligned their schedule with the defendants’ motion for additional time to respond to a motion for summary judgment.
“Intervenor joins Defendants’ motion for a 10-day extension of time to file response to the motion for summary judgment (DE 92), in as much as Intervenor requests that the responses remain on the same schedule,” the court filing states.
The document signed by defence attorneys Christopher W. Carmichael and Victor P. Henderson of Henderson Parks, LLC was posted online by policy advisory and lobbying firm Von Batten-Montague-York, L.C., which represents former Vice President Atiku Abubakar.
According to the filing, the plaintiff opposes the proposed 10-day extension, while the defendants do not object.
