-

The Sokoto Police Command has arrested two men, who allegedly used to trail unsuspecting bank customers to dispossess them of their money.

This arrest came following a series of reports that bank customers were being trailed after cash withdrawals by some criminals and stealing the money.

It was due to the reports that the command escalated its efforts towards getting rid of Sokoto State of these and many other bad elements.

The Sokoto Police Command on 16th of December 2022, through the use of Artificial Intelligence and increased vigilance, arrested a syndicate of criminals at Usman Danfodio University Teaching Hospital who trailed one of the bank customers from one of the first-generation bank to the point of parking his Honda Accord car at UDUS while both attempted to unlock it in a compromising manner with some tools.

The arrested suspects are, Chubuke Obaduke and Efeanyi Odu. During the police investigation, both suspects explained how they were able to trail the vehicle owner from one of the banks in Sokoto metropolis where he withdrew the sum of N750,000 cash and kept it inside his car.

In addition, a high-level police investigation has been extended to other conspirators especially those that provide accommodation to them and extension benefiting from their loot.

Meanwhile, both suspects have already been profiled and will be charged in court upon completion of the investigation.

The Command is using this medium to inform members of the public to be vigilant, especially at banks’ locations and report any suspicious activities to the nearby policemen.
