Two people were killed and others injured after a seven-storey building collapsed at the Oba Idowu Oniru Street, beside Ave Maria Hospital, Lekki, Lagos State.
The recovered bodies are males. LASEMA Director, Dr Olufemi Oke – Osanyintolu said that the agency responded to a distress call from the above-mentioned street and immediately activated its response plan.
Oke – Osanyintolu said: “The Agency responded to a distress call at the above-mentioned location and activated its response plan. Upon arrival at the scene, an uncompleted seven-storey building, undergoing construction was found to have collapsed. Six people are reported to be trapped under the rubble of the collapsed structure. Two bodies have been located and recovered thus far.”
A Vulcaniser, simply identified as Tobi disclosed that although the site Engineer forbids people sleeping on site, however, whenever night comes, people would converge there.
Tobi further said: “About 30 people jumped to safety after one of the deceased’s person fell off the from the topmost, forcing those sleeping to wake and scamper for safety.”
