Two people have gone missing after a flood caused by heavy rainfall swept away a Lexus Jeep and Toyota car in the Fatoki area of Orile Agege, Lagos State.

One victim jumped to safety, and one swam out of a trapped car, while two persons were rescued alive, but two others still missing.

According to the Acting Coordinator of the Lagos Territorial office of the National Emergency Management Agency (NEMA), Ibrahim Farinloye: “Seven people were reported to have been swept away when rainwater overflow an uncompleted Canal in the area. The residents reportedly warned the people in the two vehicles, four in LEXUS and three in Toyota, to desist from passing through the road but they were adamant. They drove through and were swept away.  Lagos State Fire Service as the Lead agency in this incident has been performing yeoman jobs, NEMA, LASEMA, Police, and other responders are assisting the fire service in the operations. The community members are mobilised since they know the terrain. The two vehicles had three people each on board. In the Lexus, one swam out of the vehicle, while residents helped the other two people out. While one of the people in the Toyota refused to drop down from the vehicle, the other two drove and there was only one missing presently. Altogether, three instead of four are out, but two people are missing.”
