UNILAG Student Tells Court Lecturer Raped Her in Office

-

A 20-year-old University of Lagos student on Wednesday told a Lagos State High Court in Ikeja that a lecturer, Samuel Obinna Ojogbo, allegedly raped her in his office.

Testifying before Justice Oyindamola Ogala, the student said the incident occurred on August 22, 2025, at the Akoka campus.

Ojogbo is being prosecuted by the Lagos State Government on a two-count charge of rape and sexual assault.

Led in evidence by prosecuting counsel, A.O. Azeez, the witness said the lecturer had earlier asked her to visit his office after an exam. She said she later met him after another paper, and he took her to his office.

She alleged that after asking her to shut the door, the lecturer pushed her onto a couch and raped her.

The student said she reported the incident to a friend, lecturers, and her uncle, and later to the university authorities, Servicom, the Lagos State Domestic and Sexual Violence Agency, and the police.

She added that the defendant denied the allegation and that there were attempts at settlement.

Justice Ogala adjourned the case to April 27, 2026, for cross-examination.
