AIG Akpanudom Visits Oba of Lagos, Seeks Royal Synergy for Enhanced Community Policing

-

The Assistant Inspector-General of Police in charge of the Force Criminal Investigation Department (FCID) Annex, Alagbon, AIG Simeon U. Akpanudom, paid a high-profile courtesy visit to the Oba of Lagos, His Royal Majesty, Alaiyeluwa Oba Rilwan Babatunde Osuolale Aremu Akiolu I, at his palace on Thursday.

The visit serves as a pivotal component of the Nigeria Police Force’s ongoing initiative to deepen ties with traditional institutions. AIG Akpanudom emphasised that the Force is committed to drawing from the “wealth of experience, wisdom, and guidance” of the monarch to enhance service delivery for the residents of Lagos State and the nation.

During the engagement, the AIG paid homage to the revered monarch, expressing his gratitude for the warm royal hospitality. He underscored the vital role traditional rulers play in maintaining peace and preserving cultural values, noting that a deep understanding of local customs is fundamental to modern law enforcement.

The AIG further declared that the era of “Police versus the people” has been replaced by a vision of partnership based on mutual trust. He reiterated the Inspector-General of Police’s commitment to a people-centred approach, where safety and security are viewed as a shared responsibility between the authorities and the community.

In his response, Oba Akiolu I commended the Nigeria Police Force for its tireless efforts in maintaining law and order across the state. The monarch described policing as a “noble profession” and charged the AIG and his officers to remain steadfast, urging them to carry out their duties with unwavering integrity, fairness, and compassion.

The visit concluded with the symbolic presentation of a plaque to His Royal Majesty, further cementing the alliance between the FCID Annex and the traditional throne. AIG Akpanudom closed the session by offering prayers for the continued peaceful and prosperous reign of the monarch.

The official statement regarding the visit was released by ASP Mayegun Aminat, the Police Public Relations Officer for the FCID Annex, Alagbon, on behalf of the Assistant Inspector-General of Police. #Securitynewsalert.com
