The Chief Executive Officer (CEO) of Angels Assurance Security Outfits Limited, Ms. Ange Ify Udeogalanya, who busted an international prostitution ring and rescued seven girls from being trafficked to Ghana, has been nominated for an award.

Udeogalanya was notified of her nomination in a letter signed by Mr Olaide Jagun, Project Coordinator of Firstborn Production, Publishers of Festac Weekly and LeadLagos. The award event, which the First Lady of Lagos State, Dr Ibijoke Sanwo-Olu is expected to attend as a Special Guest of Honour, where the nominees, among Amuwo-Odofin Influential 50, will be honoured.

It will be recalled Udeogalanya, who is also Chief Security Officer, Amuwo Odofin, Festac Town Lagos State, rescued seven girls from a group of traffickers and handed them over to the National Agency for the Prohibition of Trafficking in Persons (NAPTIP). The ages of the girls ranged from 16 to 23 years old.

The traffickers got the girls from Akwa-Ibom and Abia states. The girls were promised jobs as cleaners in Lagos State, but when they got to Lagos, they were to prepare to be taken to Ghana for prostitution.

One of the rescued girls, Harmony, was trafficked once to Anambra State by two men, where her madam forced her to have sex with 35 men per day at N1000 per client.

According to Jagun, Udeogalanya was selected amongst several nominations to receive the prestigious community recognition and be counted among Amuwo-Odofin Influential 50.

Jagun further stated: “Since its inception in 2019, we have duly recognised by merit those who have been found to fall under this category of distinguished personalities. Women play a significant role in the development of any society. Traditional women were only saddled with the responsibility of looking after children and house chores while the men went out to provide resources to manage the home.  In recent times, this has dramatically changed the building of society.

The coordinator explained that this year’s edition of Amuwo-Odofin Influential 50 is dedicated to celebrating influential women with the theme; “Celebrating the African Woman.”

“The official event for administering the recognition will take place in the presence of Dr. Ibijoke Sanwo-Olu, wife of the Governor of Lagos State as a Special Guest of Honour on the 15th of December 2022.”
