2026 UTME: CP Imo Warns Against Malpractice, Deploys Heavy Security

-

The Imo State Police Command has announced a comprehensive security strategy to ensure the smooth conduct of the 2026 Unified Tertiary Matriculation Examination (UTME), scheduled to run from April 16 to April 25, 2026.

The Commissioner of Police, CP Audu Garba Bosso, issued the directive during a strategic security meeting at the Command Headquarters, assuring candidates and officials of a safe, peaceful, and hitch-free examination environment across all accredited centres in the state.

To maintain order, the CP has ordered Area Commanders and Divisional Police Officers (DPOs) to mobilise personnel and operational assets to all JAMB offices and testing sites. This plan includes the intensification of visibility policing through increased patrols and sustained surveillance around examination perimeters to deter criminal activity and ensure a swift response to any potential threats.

Furthermore, special operatives from the State Intelligence Department (SID) have been strategically deployed to provide real-time intelligence support and bolster operational readiness. CP Bosso issued a stern warning to his force, stating that any officer found wanting in the discharge of their assigned duties would face appropriate disciplinary action.

While wishing candidates success, the Command emphasised that security efforts will also target the integrity of the process itself. CP Bosso cautioned all participants against involvement in examination malpractice or any form of disorderly conduct, stressing that offenders will be arrested and prosecuted in accordance with extant laws.

The Police Public Relations Officer, DSP Okoye Henry, reiterated that the Command remains committed to sustaining the improved peace and security across Imo State. Members of the public are encouraged to remain law-abiding and cooperate fully with security agencies throughout the duration of the examination period.
