…wife alleged of using naval system to perpetrate fraud
The Advocate for Children and Vulnerable Persons Network (ACVPN), a nongovernmental organisation based in Lagos, Nigeria, has petitioned the Lagos State Commissioner of Police, Moshood Jimoh, to look into a case of threat to life by an estranged wife identified as Eno, against her husband Mr Abiodun George, assisted by some naval personnel.
The petition, dated 16 April 2025, was signed by Comrade Toyin Okanlawon, the head of rescue/referrals at ACVPN.
The petition reads in part: “ACVPN was informed about the nefarious activities of Eno, the legal wife of Mr. Abiodun George. He narrated that Eno went to his house with three Naval Officers-two in camouflage and one in mufti-to forcefully break into his house located at No. 17B, Ado Close, Obele Bus Stop, Ogunlana Junction, Surulere, to arrest him while he was still sleeping.
“On that fateful day of this incident, George Abiodun questioned the military men to kindly identify themselves and show him a warrant of arrest.
“According to Abiodun George, the leader of the military gang, rather than respond, he hit him on the chest and seized his phone.
“On that fatefully day, part of his house rent money Two hundred and thirty five thousand naira (N235,000), washing machine, Rolex wrist watch unsaved material Fifty thousand naira (N50,000), Samsung Galaxy Phone, Mobil Engine Oil (4 liters), Hp laptop and photocopy of his land documents, GTB ATM Card (expired) and many of his belongings were taken away by the military men his estranged wife hired to mistreat him.
“According to Abiodun George, before this incident, his estranged wife was in the house to take her belongings in company of her friend by name, mummy Rume, and she dropped all the entrance keys in the living room, but on the day the assault took place his wife and her hired military men were able to gain access into his apartment with the help of one his co-tenant-Dayo-who was alleged to have opened the entrance door for his wife along with the Naval Officers after placing a call to him to Dayo their co-Tenant.
“Furthermore, on the day of the incident, Abiodun George’s estranged wife was also accompanied by her younger siblings-younger brother and sister, Ini and Elizabeth.
“According to George Abiodun, who claimed that his estranged wife left their matrimonial home in March 2023, he reported his wife to one Mr. Akinjayeju. George claimed to have later discovered that he was married to an impostor using the Naval System to engage in fraudulent activities with one Oge.
“George Abiodun claimed that one of the root causes of this rift was that his estranged wife wanted to travel abroad in a fraudulent manner, along with the children they both bore together.
“All along, Eno, his wife, has been recording his voice (over 4 years) during any argument and sent it to Aunty Yinka to pave the way for her exit from their matrimonial home.
“Abiodun George alleged his wife assigned one unknown Adda Hauwa to monitor him. George Abiodun claimed this incident was reported to the Police Station sharing the same building with the Area C Command Ojuelegba Surlere with Entry No 752 as at July 2023, but nothing has been done about his petition and statement obtained from him to date.
“Abiodun George also claimed that his wife, duped people on visa racketeering with the document of Rotary Club International convention of June 21-25, 2025, Calgary, Alberta, Canada with account number 0069248200 Access Bank PLC, to the tune of over a million naira, two of them happened to be church members, Mr. Tuned Adegoke Isaac.
“Abiodun George said his wife also generated a document with Rotary International Conference Letter Head paper and vaccination card attached for perusal. Abiodun George said his wife also impersonated as a Lieutenant (Lt.) in the military, a document is also attached.
“Sir, we call on your good office to look into this petition to avert further threats posed by the alleged suspects and cohorts to wreak further crime in fraudulently defrauding innocent and unsuspecting Nigerians.
“Abiodun George said that he has been receiving various calls from members of the public regarding his wife’s fraudulent activities. His laptop was later returned through INI, his wife’s brother, they returned it after several pleas, but some of his belongings are still with INI.
“A high level of conspiracy and threats to his life need to be investigated. Eno has also made efforts to travel abroad with the children without her husband’s consent, which is a trafficking attempt; she also claimed to be a retired Lt. Col in the force.
“We hereby plead to use your good office to investigate all allegations levelled against Eno.”
Okanlawon expressed displeasure that the Command was not giving the petition attention.
His words: “The CP’s office has refused to get in touch. When I went there to track the petition, the receiver asked me to go write a reminder. When they refused to act on the main letter, is it a reminder that they will act on it?”
