Police Rescue 31 Kidnapped Victims in Taraba, Edo States

-

The Nigeria Police Force has successfully rescued 31 kidnapped victims in separate operations carried out in Taraba and Edo States, as part of ongoing efforts to combat kidnapping and banditry.

On Friday, July 11th, suspected kidnappers ambushed travellers on the Fugar-Agenebode road in Etsako East LGA, killing two and abducting several others.

A swift rescue mission by police and local security forces took place near Obe Hill, close to the Ajaokuta axis. After a gun battle, the kidnappers fled with gunshot injuries, and 14 victims were safely rescued. Authorities are actively searching for the suspects.

On Saturday, July 12th, police responded to a distress call about a kidnapping along the Wukari highway, near Federal University Wukari. Armed men had ambushed a bus carrying 17 passengers from Enugu to Yola. Security operatives rushed to the scene, prompting the kidnappers to abandon the victims and flee into the bush. All 17 passengers were rescued unharmed.

Inspector-General of Police, Kayode Adeolu Egbetokun, praised the quick and brave response of officers involved. He assured Nigerians that the police will continue aggressive operations to dismantle criminal networks across the country.
