The Inspector-General of Police (IGP), Kayode Adeolu Egbetokun, has received the Deputy Assistant Secretary of the United States Bureau of International Narcotics and Law Enforcement Affairs (INL), Ms Maggie Nardi, and her delegation on a courtesy visit to the Force Headquarters in Abuja.
According to the Force Public Relations Officer, CSP Benjamin Hundeyin, anipr, mipra, the visit took place on Friday, January 24, 2026, and focused on reviewing ongoing areas of cooperation between the Nigeria Police Force (NPF) and the INL, as well as exploring opportunities to strengthen institutional engagement in policing and internal security development.
The INL delegation included Mr Jacob Wright, Senior Advisor, INL, and MMrGrane Douglas, Acting Director, INL Abuja.
Speaking during the meeting, MsMsardi reaffirmed the INL’s commitment to supporting the Nigeria Police Force through expanded specialised training programmes and the provision of modern operational equipment.
“We remain committed to supporting the Nigeria Police Force through enhanced training initiatives and the supply of modern operational tools, as sustained collaboration is vital to building institutional capacity and improving operational effectiveness,” Ms. Nardi said.
In his remarks, IGP Egbetokun expressed appreciation for the continued partnership and support of the INL, particularly in the area of tactical capacity development.
“The support of the INL has had a significant impact on our tactical capabilities, especially through training initiatives that have enhanced the operational performance of the Special Intervention Squad,” the IGP stated.
He noted that INL-supported programmes have contributed to the professionalism and discipline exhibited by officers of the Special Intervention Squad (SIS) in recent operations.
IGP Egbetokun further reiterated the commitment of the Nigeria Police Force to deepening cooperation with the INL and other international partners, while embracing global best practices aimed at improving service delivery and ensuring a safer and more secure Nigeria.
