IGP Egbetokun, FMBN Chief Meet to Expand Housing Access for Police Officers

-

In a move aimed at bolstering the welfare of the nation’s security personnel, the Inspector-General of Police, IGP Kayode Adeolu Egbetokun, hosted the Managing Director of the Federal Mortgage Bank of Nigeria (FMBN), Mr Shehu Usman Osidi, at the Force Headquarters on Wednesday.

The high-level meeting focused on streamlining the path to homeownership for members of the Nigeria Police Force. Mr Osidi, leading a delegation from the FMBN, expressed profound appreciation for the existing relationship between the two institutions, identifying the Nigeria Police Force as one of the bank’s most vital strategic partners.

During the exchange, the FMBN chief commended the Force for its consistent cooperation but emphasised the need for a deeper collaboration. He specifically called for a more integrated approach to ensure that police personnel can access housing benefits and mortgage facilities with greater ease, effectively removing the administrative bottlenecks and disputes that have historically hindered the process.

Responding to the proposal, IGP Egbetokun characterised the visit as a timely intervention that aligns with the current leadership’s vision. He noted that building strong institutional alliances is the most effective way to provide sustainable housing solutions for a workforce that often operates under high-pressure conditions.

The Inspector-General reaffirmed his commitment to officer welfare, stating that affordable housing is not merely a benefit but a necessity for boosting the morale of those dedicated to national service. He emphasised that the dignity and well-being of officers both during their active years and into retirement remain a central pillar of his administration’s agenda.

The meeting concluded with a mutual pledge to foster a more robust partnership, ensuring that the men and women of the Nigeria Police Force receive the residential support required to match their commitment to public safety.
