Olukoyede Calls for Stronger Intelligence Sharing Between EFCC, Customs to Tackle Financial Crimes

-

The Executive Chairman of the Economic and Financial Crimes Commission, Ola Olukoyede, has called for more credible information and intelligence sharing among anti-corruption and securities agencies in the country as part of efforts to tackle economic and financial crimes and address national insecurity.

Olukoyede made the call through the Acting Zonal Director of the Ibadan Zonal Directorate of the commission, Assistant Commander of the EFCC, Hauwa Garba Ringim, on Thursday, February 26, 2026, when the Acting Customs Area Controller of the Oyo/Osun Area Command of the Nigeria Customs Service, Deputy Comptroller of Customs Wale Adewole, paid a familiarisation visit to the directorate.

While welcoming the controller, Olukoyede said the visit was timely and would help strengthen the existing collaboration and synergy between the Nigeria Customs Service and the EFCC to enable both organisations achieve their mandates and support effective economic growth.

He stressed that “emphasis must be placed on adequate and timely information and intelligence sharing between the NCS and the EFCC that would help combat economic and financial crimes, insecurity, smuggling and generate revenue for the government.”

Olukoyede also highlighted the need for inter-organisational training and retraining of staff to promote professionalism and integrity in the discharge of official duties. He assured the visiting customs controller of the commission’s readiness to support any productive initiative when the need arises.

In his remarks, Adewole said the visit was part of his official responsibilities following his appointment as Customs Area Controller.

According to him, “as the newly appointed Customs Area Controller, it is mandatory for me to embark on a familiarisation visit to all relevant stakeholders and sister agencies in Oyo and Osun States to ensure that the financial aspects of our official duties are not sabotaged.”

He further assured the EFCC of the command’s support and collaboration to enhance service delivery. #Securitynewsalert.com
