The Inspector-General of Police, IGP Olatunji Rilwan Disu, has ordered the immediate deployment of the Deputy Inspector-General of Police in charge of Operations, DIG Shehu Umar Nadada, to Kaduna State.
The deployment follows a harrowing incident on April 5, 2026, where bandits stormed both ECWA and Catholic churches within the community.
The attackers opened fire indiscriminately, resulting in the tragic death of five residents and the abduction of approximately fourteen others.
Upon arriving in the state to assess the situation firsthand, DIG Nadada spearheaded a coordinated security intervention. Working in close collaboration with the Nigerian Army and the Department of State Services (DSS), the joint operation successfully rescued seven of the kidnapped victims.
The rescued individuals were immediately transported to Katari Hospital for medical evaluation and treatment. Officials confirmed they are currently in stable condition and are being processed for reunion with their families.
IGP Disu has affirmed that tactical operations remain ongoing to secure the unconditional release of the remaining captives and to track down the perpetrators of the attack.
While reiterating the Force’s commitment to restoring order in the region, the IGP urged members of the public to remain vigilant and support security agencies by providing credible information that could aid in the apprehension of the bandits.
