The Commissioner of Police, Delta State Command, CP Yemi Oyeniyi, has carried out an operational visit to Sapele following the abduction of the Local Government Chairman, underscoring the Command’s determination to secure his safe release.

During the visit, the CP inspected key locations linked to the incident.

He toured Debro Fred Guest House, where the abduction occurred, to gain first-hand clarity, and later visited Ogorode Waterside, where the vehicle reportedly used in the operation was recovered.

These assessments, he said, would “provide further direction for intelligence exploitation and forensic follow-up.”

In a solemn engagement, CP Oyeniyi met with the wife of the abducted chairman, offering empathy and reassurance. “We are doing everything necessary to ensure his safe return,” he told the family. He also visited hospitals where victims injured during the attack are receiving treatment.

Speaking to reporters, the CP emphasised that the Command, in synergy with other security agencies, has deployed adequate resources and is working on credible intelligence.

“We are tracking down the perpetrators and will rescue the victim unhurt,” he assured.

He further urged residents of Sapele and Delta State to remain vigilant and cooperate with police efforts by providing timely information.

“Public support remains vital to the success of ongoing operations,” he stressed.

The Delta State Police Command reiterated its unwavering commitment to protecting lives and property, vowing to take decisive steps to bring the perpetrators to justice.
