Ogun police arrests 146 suspects in proactive, intelligence-driven operations

-

The Ogun State Police Command has announced the arrest of 146 suspects in Sagamu during a coordinated special raid operation code-named “Operation Keep Sagamu Safe.”

The exercise, carried out by operatives of the Sagamu Area Command in collaboration with community stakeholders and sister security agencies, was aimed at curbing crime and reinforcing public safety across Sagamu and its environs.

The intelligence-led operation, conducted in the early hours of April 13, 2026, targeted identified flashpoints where suspected criminal elements had been observed. It followed a series of strategic engagements with traditional authorities, the Sagamu Local Government Council, and heads of security agencies to strengthen collaborative security architecture.

Personnel from the Nigeria Police Force, the military, the Nigeria Security and Civil Defence Corps (NSCDC), the Amotekun Corps, the Ogun State Community Security (So-Safe) Corps, and the Vigilante Group of Nigeria (VGN) jointly executed the raid, reflecting a unified security response framework. The suspects are currently undergoing screening to determine their level of involvement in criminal activities, with those found culpable to be transferred to the State Criminal Investigation Department (SCID), Abeokuta, for further investigation and prosecution.

Commissioner of Police, CP Bode Ojajuni, commended the synergy and professionalism displayed by all participating agencies, assuring residents of Ogun State of the Command’s commitment to proactive, intelligence-driven policing.

He emphasised that sustained efforts will continue to ensure peace and security across the state.

The Police Command urged members of the public to remain vigilant and report suspicious activities through its emergency lines: Gateway Shield (Toll-Free) 0800 000 9111; 0906 283 7609; 0912 014 1706; 0915 102 7369; and 0708 497 2994.
