Police, Judo Federation Partner on Officers’ Fitness as IGP Receives Life Patron Honour

-

The Inspector-General of Police, Olatunji Rilwan Disu, has reaffirmed the commitment of the Nigeria Police Force to integrating martial arts and competitive sports into police training programmes to enhance discipline and physical fitness among officers.

Disu made the pledge while receiving a delegation from the Nigeria Judo Federation led by its President, Musa Olakunle Oshodi, at the Force Headquarters in Abuja.

During the visit, the federation conferred the title of Life Patron on the IGP in recognition of his appointment as the 23rd indigenous Inspector-General of Police, describing it as a milestone for the sporting community.

According to the police, discussions during the meeting focused on strengthening institutional ties between the Force and the federation, improving officers’ physical fitness, and plans for the proposed 2026 IGP Open Judo Championship across various police commands.

The IGP expressed appreciation for the honour bestowed on him by the federation and reiterated the Force’s resolve to promote physical discipline and professional excellence through sports.

“The Force remains committed to integrating martial arts and competitive sports into training regimes to boost the professional discipline and physical well-being of personnel nationwide,” he said.
