-

Operatives of the Violent Crime Response Unit (VCRU), Ogun State Police Command, in collaboration with detectives from Isara Area Command and Isara Division, have disrupted a suspected cult initiation procession in Isara-Remo, leading to the arrest of thirty male suspects.

The operation, carried out on June 16 at about 4:00 p.m., followed credible intelligence that hoodlums had converged at an uncompleted building for an unlawful gathering involving chanting, alcohol consumption, and initiation activities.

Acting swiftly, the Commander of the VCRU mobilised a combined team that stormed the location, dispersed the assembly, and arrested the suspects in a coordinated tactical raid.

Among those arrested are Muiz Olawale, Adeniji Akinwale, Ajayi Victor, Damilola Oluwasegun, Adewale Olayemi, Aminu Rahmon, Olodudu Ademola, Matthew Imoleayo, Adenle Habeb, Lekan Qudus, Olamilekan Ayanleke, Adegbasa Ezekiel, Ibukun Adeniyi, Abiodun Babatunde, Oshofolahan Michael, Salau Adedeji, Benjamin Kehinde, Magnus Elijah, Oluwadamilare Samson, Oyebowale Ojutona, Abiodun Makanjuola, Idowu Toheeb, Olamide Sunday, Malik Also, Abdullahi Damilola, Israel Ayomikun, Oyeledun Ezekiel, Adelabu Imoleayo, Ajayi Oluwasegun, and Olaawun Faith.

Four vehicles allegedly abandoned during the attempted escape were recovered, along with exhibits including a jack knife, a local drum, a “sekere” (rattle), and bottles suspected to have contained alcohol. The suspects have been transferred to the State Criminal Investigation Department (SCID), Abeokuta, for further investigation and will be charged in court upon completion. Police say efforts are ongoing to apprehend other fleeing suspects.

Commissioner of Police, Ogun State Command, CP Bode Ojajuni, commended the swift response and professionalism of the operatives, describing the raid as proof of the Command’s intelligence-led policing strategy and zero tolerance for cultism. He reiterated that unlawful assemblies and violent crime will not be condoned in any part of the state.

Residents are urged to remain vigilant and report suspicious gatherings to the nearest police formation. For emergencies, the Command can be reached via Gateway Shield (Toll-Free): 0800 000 9111 or emergency lines: 0906 283 7609, 0912 014 1706, 0915 102 7369, 0708 497 2994.
