A Nigerian woman from Imo State has been arrested following allegations of horrific and systematic abuse against her five-year-old house help, who is also her biological niece.
The suspect allegedly poured boiling water over the child’s hand as punishment for “licking” her soup.
According to local sources, the severe burns were left untreated, causing three of the toddler’s fingers to rot.
Neighbours eventually intervened, rushing the child to a nearby hospital where medical professionals were forced to amputate the three affected fingers.
Subsequent investigations have revealed a deeper history of torture. Medical examinations and police findings indicate the suspect frequently used burning candle wax to inflict agonising injuries across the victim’s body.
The child sustained severe, extensive burns covering her back, face, buttocks, and genitalia.
The shocking incident has caused widespread outrage across Nigeria, with child rights advocates and citizens demanding maximum legal penalties.
Public outcry is mounting swiftly, with many calling for the suspect to be prosecuted for attempted murder and sentenced to life imprisonment.
The police have confirmed that the suspect remains in custody, and formal charges are expected to be filed as the investigation concludes. #Securitynewsalert.com
