Lagos Police Arrests 4 Suspected Armed Robbers, Cultists, Recovers Locally Made Pistols

-

Operatives of the Lagos State Police Command have arrested four suspected members of a criminal gang allegedly linked to a string of killings, armed robbery, and cult-related activities in the Ajah area of the state, police announced Wednesday.

The suspects were named as Kareem Abiodun, 26; Tansiru Emmanuel, 29; Lateef Usman, 28; and Alashe Azeez, 32. Police said the arrests followed sustained investigative efforts connected to a robbery case in the area.

According to the Command, operatives recovered three locally made pistols, one round of live ammunition, two battle axes, and a Point-of-Sale (POS) machine during the operation, which forms part of what officials described as a sustained effort to rid the state of violent crime.

Preliminary investigations linked the four suspects to a series of robbery incidents around Ajah, Sangotedo, and Ibeju-Lekki. Police said the men have since made confessional statements admitting involvement in armed robbery, murder, and cultism.

The suspects remain in police custody and are assisting investigators, authorities said, while efforts continue to track down other members of the gang and recover additional items linked to the case. They are expected to be charged to court once investigations are concluded.

Commissioner of Police for Lagos State, CP Tijani Fatai, commended the operatives for their diligence, urging them to sustain the momentum in pursuing the remaining gang members. He warned cultists, armed robbers, and other violent offenders that the Command would continue to rely on intelligence-led operations to track down and prosecute perpetrators.

The Command also renewed its call on residents to report suspicious activity through its emergency contact lines for prompt police response.
