CP Ojajuni Bags Two Honours as NANS, Afenifere Youth Council Pledge Support on Campus Security

-

The Commissioner of Police, Ogun State Command, CP Bode Ojajuni, has received two separate delegations from the National Association of Nigerian Students (NANS) and the Afenifere National Youth Council, both of whom used the occasion to commend his leadership and confer honorary awards on him.

The delegations, who visited the Command Headquarters at Eleweran, Abeokuta, on separate courtesy calls, said the visits were aimed at deepening collaboration between the police and youth stakeholders on campus safety, crime prevention and public order in the state.

Leading the NANS delegation, the association’s Secretary General, Comrade Oladimeji Uthman, commended the Commissioner for what he described as commendable achievements since assuming office. He briefed the CP on security concerns affecting tertiary institutions in the state, including threats to lives and property and the spread of social vices among students.

Uthman pledged the association’s continued support to the Command in maintaining a safe learning environment, and announced that NANS had conferred on CP Ojajuni the honour of National Ambassador Against Social Vices.

Responding, CP Ojajuni thanked the delegation and stressed the importance of student cooperation in sustaining peace on campuses. He said the Command remained committed to protecting lives and property and curbing criminal activity within tertiary institutions.

The Commissioner also disclosed that the Police Campaign Against Cultism and Other Vices (POCACOV) has been launched in Ogun State, with a statewide sensitisation drive on cultism, drug abuse and cybercrime to follow. He urged NANS to partner with the Command to ensure the campaign’s success.

In a separate visit, the National President of the Afenifere National Youth Council, Prince Eniola Joseph Ojajuni, commended the Commissioner and his management team for what he called firm action against crime in the state, saying the move had been well received by young people across Ogun.

The Council presented CP Ojajuni with an award recognising him as the Best Commissioner of Police in the South-West of Nigeria on Security, and pledged its continued support to the Command’s public safety efforts.

In his response, CP Ojajuni expressed appreciation for the recognition but reminded the Council of its status as a socio-cultural body, urging it to remain strictly apolitical and focused on youth welfare and development.
