Abeokuta Police Commissioner Hosts Security Spokespersons, Calls for Unified Communication

-

The Commissioner of Police, Ogun State Command, CP Bode Ojajuni, on Wednesday received spokespersons from various security and paramilitary agencies in the state during a courtesy visit at the Command Headquarters in Eleweran.

The delegation, representing the Military, Police and Paramilitary Public Relations Officers Forum (MILPOPPROF), Ogun State Chapter, included spokespersons from the Nigeria Police Force, Nigerian Correctional Service, National Drug Law Enforcement Agency (NDLEA), Federal Fire Service, Federal Road Safety Corps (FRSC), So-Safe Corps, the Ogun State Traffic Compliance and Enforcement Corps (TRACE), Amotekun Corps, and the Nigeria Security and Civil Defence Corps (NSCDC), among others.

The visit was led by DSP Oluseyi B. Babaseyi, Chairman of MILPOPPROF’s Ogun State Chapter and Police Public Relations Officer for the Ogun Command.

In his remarks, Babaseyi thanked CP Ojajuni for the reception and noted the visit’s historical significance, pointing to the Commissioner’s role in founding MILPOPPROF while serving as Police Public Relations Officer in Lagos State in 2005. He said the gathering of spokespersons from multiple agencies reflected the forum’s continued commitment to inter-agency cooperation and public trust.

Responding, CP Ojajuni said he was pleased to host the delegation and spoke about the forum’s origins. He explained that MILPOPPROF was established more than 20 years ago through a joint effort with Major Kingsley Umoh, then of the 9th Brigade (now 81 Division), following a 2005/2006 clash between security agencies at Ojuelegba, Lagos. The goal, he said, was to end inter-agency rivalry and build a platform for trust and coordinated communication.

The Commissioner urged today’s spokespersons to uphold that founding vision while adapting to modern, technology-driven communication. He emphasised the need for agencies to speak with one voice, share accurate information, and support each other in strengthening public confidence in security institutions. He also called on spokespersons to remain professional, factual and responsive, describing effective communication as essential to sustaining peace and public cooperation with law enforcement.

Members of the forum thanked CP Ojajuni for his mentorship and pledged to continue promoting inter-agency collaboration, public safety and professional security communication across the state.

The Ogun State Police Command reaffirmed its commitment to strengthening partnerships with security stakeholders and urged the public to remain calm, vigilant, and to report credible information to appropriate agencies.
