Abuja Billionaire Stabbed to Death by Son Over Allowance Squabble

-

A prominent Nigerian businessman, Chief Godwin Chinedu Adimike, has been killed at his residence on Hassan Adamu Street, Guzape, Abuja, allegedly by his 21-year-old son, a serving National Youth Service Corps (NYSC) member.

The incident occurred in the early hours of Friday, May 15, 2026, following a heated argument between father and son over money.

According to reports, the suspect had returned home from a nightclub accompanied by two women when a confrontation broke out. He allegedly challenged his father for being reluctant to release funds, arguing that less wealthy fathers among his peers had purchased cars for their children. Chief Adimike had previously accused his son of being extravagant and mismanaging proceeds from a real estate business entrusted to him in Abuja.

The altercation turned fatal when the suspect allegedly stabbed his father three times. Chief Adimike was rushed to Karu General Hospital, where he was pronounced dead.

The deceased, popularly known as Egonaejeije Na Awka-Etiti, was a native of Awka Etiti in Anambra State. He was a major figure in Nigeria’s electronics import and export trade, with a well-established presence at Alaba International Market in Lagos, and held significant real estate interests across Abuja and Lagos.

The suspect is currently in police custody as investigations continue.
