Troops of Operation EASTERN SANITY II have raided a suspected criminal hideout in Oji River Local Government Area of Enugu State, recovering explosive materials and apprehending three suspects.
The early morning operation, conducted at approximately 4:30 a.m. on Friday, targeted a house in Achi Town believed to be sheltering cultists and other criminal elements.
“Acting on credible intelligence, troops deployed at Oji River, in conjunction with Keystone personnel from Oji River LGA, conducted a raid operation,” the Nigerian Army said in a statement posted on its official X account.
Troops recovered eight motorcycles and two buckets of locally made gunpowder “suspected to be used for criminal activities,” according to the army.
Three suspects were apprehended during the raid: Mr Ozor Benjamin, 85, from Isikwe Achi; Mrs Miracle Eze, 26; and Mrs Ogechukwu Okorie, 29, both from Umuoka Achi in Oji River LGA. All three have been handed over to Keystone Oji River for further investigation.
The Nigerian Army described the operation as reflecting its “commitment to sustaining offensive operations against criminal elements threatening peace and security in the South East region,” adding that troops “remain resolute in denying criminal elements freedom of action.”
The public has been urged to continue providing “timely and credible information to security agencies.” #Securitynewsalert.com
