The Second Annual Lecture Series and Scholarship Awards of the Solomon Ehigiator Arase Foundation (SEAF) will be taking place on the 21st of June 2023, marking the birthday of Dr. Solomon E. Arase, CFR, NPM, fdc, FCIArb, Inspector-General of Police (rtd), Chairman, Police Service Commission, PSC.

Arase, while extending an invitation to all and sundries, said that the objectives of the Foundation are enhancing community security and socio-economic development through collaboration with security agencies to enhance their community safety mandate, and the provision of educational opportunities for the less privileged with the intent to empower them to act as agents of positive change within our communities in particular, and the national space at large.

Arase explained that in furtherance to these objectives and the SEAF will be organising a Thanksgiving Service at the St. Francis Catholic Church College Road, Off Ekenhuan Road, Benin City, by 10:00 am on the 21st June 2023 followed immediately by the Second Annual Lecture Series with the Theme ‘The Benefits of ADR in Civil and Criminal Cases by Law Enforcement Agencies in Nigeria’ to be delivered by Omonuwa Omoruyi OFR, SAN.

The lecture series is scheduled to take place at Uyi Grand International Event Centre, No 11, Osagiede Street Off Ihama, Off Adesewa, G.R.A, Benin City, by 11:00 am with Emeritus Professor, Sir, Augustine A.E. Orhue as the chairman of the lecture.

The event will also witness the presentation of cheques to the second batch of beneficiaries of the SEAF Scholarship Scheme and for the first time, the presentation of cheques to children of deceased Inspectors/Rank and File of the Nigeria Police Force, who died whilst in service to the nation.

The keynote speaker, a Senior Advocate of Nigeria (SAN),  Omoruyi A. Omonuwa, OFR is a focused, highly professional and trustworthy legal practitioner, who has extensively engaged in litigation law of banking, insurance, company law, intellectual property, election petition, constitutional law and arbitration.

Omonuwa is a governing council member of the Nigerian Institute of Chartered Arbitrators (NICArb) and the Principal Counsel of O.A Omonuwa, SAN and CO. He is a fellow of the Chartered Institute of Administrators and Researchers of Nigeria.

He is also a Fellow of the Chartered Institute of Arbitrators of Nigeria and a Fellow of the International Dispute Resolution Institute.

In 2007, Omonuwa was appointed to the Nigeria Bar Association (NBA) Disciplinary Committee. He was the Chief Law Officer of Edo State and the Chief Legal Adviser to the Edo State Government.

He was also a member of the Judicial Service Commission where he was responsible for the overall administration and discipline of the judiciary, including employment and recommendation of eligible candidates for appointment as Judges.

Other special guests for the event are Governor of Edo State, His Excellency, Godwin Obaseki, who is the Special Guest of Honour. The Oba of Benin, His Royal Majesty Omo N’Oba N’Edo Uku Akpolokpolo Ewuare II, who is the Royal Father.

Others are The Father of the Day, Iyase of Benin Kingdom, Chief SOU Igbe and Chairman of the event, Emeritus Professor, Sir Augustine A. E. Orhue.

At least 58 students have benefited from the scholarship awards of the Solomon Ehigiator Arase Foundation.
