Controller requests more personnel to man prisons in Lagos

The Controller of Corrections, Lagos State Command, Controller Ben-Rabbi Freedman has requested Commandant, Nigeria Security and Civil Defence Corps (NSCDC ), Lagos State Command, Commandant Eweka Edenabu Okoro, to provide more armed personnel to complement those at the correctional facilities in the State.

Freedman made the request today, Tuesday, 2nd August 2022, during a courtesy visit to Okoro’s office at the Command’s Headquarters, situated at Alausa, Ikeja, in the State.

NSCDC’s spokesman, ASCI Abolurin Oluwaseun, in a statement, said: “Freedman during the courtesy visit, highlighted the mission of his visit, which was to strengthen existing enjoyable security services, continuous synergy, and robust support and request for deployment of additional NSCDC armed personnel to complement the existing ones at the correctional facilities in the State. In response, the Commandant, (NSCDC ), Lagos State Command, Commandant Eweka Okoro, stated that the Command will continue to sustain the already established cordial relationship between both services in the State. The Commandant also seized the visit, to panegyrize the immense contributions of the ( NCoS ), towards the eradication of crimes and criminality in the State.”

Okoro pledged his unalloyed continuous synergy and support, towards the protection of correctional facilities and other Critical National Assets and Infrastructure ( CNAI ), mainly the Federal Government property, the State Government property and the Local Government property, in the State, as mandated by the Act establishing the Corps in 2003 and 2007 as amended.
