The Nigeria Police Force’s digital engagement, Chief Superintendent of Police, Aliyu Giwa has been officially appointed as the Force’s New Media Officer.
The appointment, Securitynewsalert.com heard, made by the Inspector-General of Police, IGP Olatunji Rilwan Disu, places one of the Force’s most recognisable digital voices at the helm of its social media and online communications strategy.
Taking to social media to acknowledge the new role, CSP Giwa expressed a deep sense of responsibility toward the appointment. He emphasised that while titles are significant, they are secondary to the underlying integrity of the individual.
“I have walked this path long enough to know that appointments do not make men; character does,” Giwa stated. “But I will not pretend that this moment does not mean everything to me, because it does.”
Addressing the Inspector-General directly, Giwa described the role as a “sacred” trust, noting that he does not take the selection lightly. He vowed to spend every day proving the Inspector-General’s decision was correct, asserting that Nigeria deserves nothing less than his absolute best.
Giwa, known for his long-standing presence and engagement on platforms like X, noted that his previous experiences within the Force served as a rigorous training ground for this specific leadership role. He credited every past posting and challenge with sharpening his resolve for this exact moment.
He clarified that he stands in his new position not in arrogance, but in the unshakeable confidence of a man who understands his history and is clear about his future direction. He also extended his gratitude to his family, colleagues, and the public for their prayers and encouragement, describing their belief in him as essential fuel for the work ahead.
The appointment comes at a time when the Nigeria Police Force is under increasing pressure to improve transparency and real-time communication. Recent viral incidents, such as the widely circulated footage of a failed phone snatching from a moving bus, highlight the rapid pace at which police-related content spreads online and the need for professional digital management.
As the new digital face of the NPF, Giwa signalled that his office would be active and results-oriented. He concluded his statement by acknowledging the immense weight of the task, simply stating that the work is serious and he is ready to deliver.
