…Six Suspects Killed During Gun Battle Along Patani-Ughelli Expressway
The Delta State Police Command has intensified its efforts in combating kidnapping across the state, making major strides in a coordinated set of operations that led to arrests, recoveries, and tragic outcomes for criminal elements.
The Police spokesman, a Superintendent of Police, Bright Edafe, explained that on July 12th, 2025, the Command’s Special Anti-Kidnapping and Cyber Crime Squad, led by CSP Godwin Osadolor, apprehended a suspect identified as Sanusi Abdulahi at Ogwashi-Ukwu in Oshimili North LGA. He was found in possession of ₦5,000,000—a portion of the ransom allegedly extorted from one of their victims.
Further investigations uncovered the gang’s involvement in a series of kidnappings at Ibusa, Ogwashi-Ukwu, Obulu-Okiti, Isele-Ukwu, and Isele-Asagba, including the recent abduction of a young lady on July 9. Following leads, police arrested four other gang members at their hideouts in Asaba.
Investigations are still ongoing.
In another development, on July 9th, 2025, at approximately 08:35hrs, operatives from the CP-Special Assignment Team engaged a heavily armed group of suspected kidnappers near Unenurhei, resulting in a fierce exchange of gunfire.
Six suspects were fatally wounded and later confirmed dead at the hospital; two others remain under medical care.
The raid targeted known individuals, including Solomon Danisco (alias “Picolo”), Nelson Jacob, Oruma Saturday, Olise Jude, Precious Urhobowin, and Whisky Rufus (alias “Asawana”) from the Ewu community. Recovered items included four locally-made firearms and nineteen live cartridges.
