The Commissioner of Police for Enugu State, CP Mamman Bitrus Giwa, was among the dignitaries present at the Passing Out Parade of 379 newly recruited Police Constables from the 2022/2023 Batch, held on October 7, 2025, at the Police College, Oji-River, Enugu State.
The parade was reviewed by the Inspector-General of Police, IGP Kayode Adeolu Egbetokun, who was represented by the Assistant Inspector-General of Police in charge of Zone 13 Command, AIG Abayomi Peter Oladipo.
In his address, the IGP reminded the new officers that policing is a “sacred duty” demanding professionalism, integrity, and respect for the rights and dignity of all citizens. He urged them to shun corruption, extortion, and abuse of power as they embark on their careers.
The Commandant of the Police College, AIG Emmanuel Simon Bretet, psc(+), expressed gratitude to the IGP for his leadership and support, highlighting that the constables underwent rigorous training in police duties, legal and liberal studies, and professional conduct. He further disclosed that the 379 graduates hailed from five states as follows: Abia State (6), Anambra State (72), Ebonyi State (81), Enugu State (194), and Imo State (26).
The Governor of Enugu State, Dr. Peter Ndubuisi Mba, represented by the Honourable Commissioner for Special Duties, Mr. Emeka Ajogwu, pledged continued support for security agencies and called on the new officers to serve with dedication and foster trust within their communities.
A high point of the event was the presentation of awards to outstanding constables in different categories, where CP Giwa presented the award for “Best in Professional Studies” to the recipient, Chukwuma Jane. Another highlight was the thrilling slow and quick march parades by the passing-out police constables, alongside a demonstration parade that culminated in formations representing the acronyms NPF (Nigeria Police Force) and PCO (Police College Oji-River).
Other notable attendees included AIG Chukwudi Ariekpere, in charge of the Force CID Annex Enugu; Brigadier General Stephen Dogo, representing the General Officer Commanding, 82 Division of the Nigerian Army, Enugu; and CP Ikioye Orutugu, Commissioner of Police, Anambra State Command; representatives of other security agencies, among other dignitaries.
