U.S. Immigration and Customs Enforcement (ICE) has announced the detention of a Nigerian national, Ibrahim Tunde Ijaoba, over a series of violent criminal convictions in the United States, describing him as a former member of the Bloods, a notoriously violent street gang.
In a statement posted on its official X (formerly Twitter) handle on Monday, ICE said Ijaoba is a “criminal illegal alien from Nigeria” who entered the United States unlawfully and later accumulated what the agency described as an extensive criminal record.
According to ICE, his convictions include aggravated assault on a police officer with a firearm, assault and aggravated assault, and armed robbery, obstruction of justice, drug sales, and escaping police custody.
“He entered illegally and then racked up an extensive rap sheet,” ICE said, listing the offences attributed to him.
The agency added that Ijaoba is currently in ICE custody and is subject to a final order of removal.
“He has a final removal order and awaits deportation,” ICE stated.
No further details were provided on when the deportation is expected to take place or the specific jurisdiction where the crimes were committed.
