ICPC to Leverage Innovative Technology, AI in Tackling Corruption, Signs MoU with NASENI

-

The Independent Corrupt Practices and Other Related Offences Commission (ICPC) is set to appropriate and leverage innovative technology and Artificial Intelligence (AI) in tackling the issues of corruption in Nigeria.

This was disclosed on Wednesday by the ICPC Chairman, Dr. Musa Adamu Aliyu, SAN, during the signing of a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) between the Commission and the National Agency for Science and Engineering Infrastructure (NASENI), at the Muhammadu Buhari Technology and Innovation Complex in Abuja.

According to the ICPC Boss, the MoU was put together to create a strong synergy between the two critical agencies in the fight against corruption in Nigeria, adding that the collaboration will avail the Commission the necessary technological expertise in its anti-corruption efforts.

“ICPC would like to appreciate NASENI for its readiness to collaborate with the ICPC in providing the necessary technological resources in confronting the current challenges of corruption. This is a critical partnership between an innovative agency and an anti-graft agency, which is good for both”, Dr. Aliyu stated.

He further expressed hope that the partnership will open a doorway for the two agencies to harness the benefits of the synergy towards national development, noting that the collaboration will be of great help for the ICPC in its fight against corruption, especially in this dispensation of information technology.

In his words, “I hope this MoU will open a way for us to see how we can partner to tackle the issue of corruption that is facing Nigeria today”.
Earlier in his remarks, the Executive Vice Chairman/Chief Executive Officer of NASENI, Mr. Khalil Suleiman Halilu, hailed the Commission and its leadership for the partnership and expressed confidence that it will mutually benefit both agencies.

Mr. Halilu applauded the Commission for demonstrating commitment in its desire to partner with the Agency, noting that ICPC’s seriousness was rare and it is therefore commendable.

According to him, “ICPC has been one of the most proactive partners that we engage with. Frankly speaking, there are times we reach out to agencies that we would want to collaborate with, and we have to keep chasing them, even though they are the ones that will benefit more at the end of the day.”

He commended the teams of ICPC and NASENI who labored earnestly to put the MoU together for signing and expressed his readiness to ensure the implementation of the pact for the greater good of the country.

The heads of the two agencies eventually signed the MoU in the presence of their management teams in Abuja.
