The Inspector-General of Police, IGP Olatunji Rilwan Disu, has reaffirmed the Nigeria Police Force’s commitment to strengthening collaboration with the Nigerian Air Force in tackling emerging security challenges across the country.
Disu stated this on Wednesday, September 2, 2026, when he received the Chief of the Air Staff, Nigerian Air Force, Air Marshal S.K. Aneke, DFS, who paid a courtesy visit to the Force Headquarters in Abuja.
The visit focused on deepening cooperation between the two security institutions, particularly in joint security operations, intelligence sharing and enhanced air support for police operations.
A statement issued by the Force Public Relations Officer, CSP Ani Iniedu, said the Chief of the Air Staff commended the longstanding professional relationship between the Nigeria Police Force and the Nigerian Air Force.
Aneke also acknowledged the support provided by the NPF Air Wing to the Nigerian Air Force and stressed the need for sustained collaboration between both institutions.
He emphasised the importance of cooperation in areas including joint operations, intelligence sharing and enhanced air support for police activities.
The meeting also focused on aerial surveillance and reconnaissance, tactical deployment, medical evacuation, joint training and improved operational coordination in the fight against terrorism, banditry, insurgency and other violent crimes.
Responding, IGP Disu reaffirmed the commitment of the police to deepening its partnership with the Nigerian Air Force through joint training, capacity building, intelligence-led operations and sustained operational support.
He stressed the importance of personnel welfare, effective command and control, as well as coordinated security planning, particularly ahead of major national events and the 2027 general elections.
The Inspector-General further called for enhanced protection of critical national infrastructure, improved logistics and response capabilities, and regular reviews of joint operational engagements to ensure greater effectiveness.

Ananaba; Air Provost Marshal, Air Vice Marshal J.I. Ukeh; Chief of Administration, Air Vice Marshal A.A. Martins; Director of Operations, Air Vice Marshal A.O. Bamidele; Director of Public Relations and Information, Air Commodore E.A. Ejodame; Principal Air Staff Officer to the CAS, Air Commodore H.I. Eze; and Principal Staff Officer Coordination to the CAS, Group Captain F.O. Olanrewaju.
The police said the engagement underscored the importance of stronger inter-agency cooperation in responding to the country’s evolving security threats.
“The Nigeria Police Force remains committed to strengthening strategic partnerships with sister security agencies, enhancing inter-agency coordination and building a more integrated security response capable of effectively protecting lives, property and national assets across the country,” the statement said.
