IGP Disu Extends Easter Greetings, Orders Enhanced Security Across Nigeria

-

The Inspector-General of Police, IGP Olatunji Rilwan Disu, has extended warm felicitations to Christian faithful nationwide as they mark Good Friday, Easter Sunday, and Easter Monday, commemorating the death and resurrection of Jesus Christ.

In line with his commitment to ensuring a safe and secure festive period, the IGP has directed Commissioners of Police and Tactical Commanders across all states and the Federal Capital Territory to enforce robust security measures. These include the strategic deployment of tactical teams, intelligence operatives, the Special Intervention Squad, and conventional police personnel to worship centres and critical infrastructure.

Security efforts will also focus on highways, motor parks, recreational centres, and other public spaces to guarantee peaceful and hitch-free celebrations throughout the Easter long weekend.

IGP Disu has emphasised heightened visibility policing, coordinated patrols, enhanced surveillance operations, and intelligence-led stop-and-search duties to proactively deter criminal activity and ensure rapid response to any emerging threats.

He further urged members of the public to remain vigilant, cooperate with law enforcement agencies, and report suspicious activities promptly to the nearest police station or via the emergency lines: 08057000001, 08057000002, 09133333785, 09133333786.

IGP Disu concluded by wishing all Nigerians a peaceful and joyous Easter celebration.
