The Inspector-General of Police, Alkali Baba, has ordered an immediate change of name for “Operation Puff Adder.”
Julianafrancisnews.com gathered that the IGP has ordered that across the federation, there should no more be any nomenclature known as “Operation Puff Adder.”
A security source told Julianafrancisnews.com, “The IGP has ordered that henceforth Operation Puff Adder nomenclature across the country has been changed to ‘Operation Restore Peace.’ He has directed that all relevant units should take action immediately. He also all records should be updated with the latest developments.”
It will be recalled that Operation Puff Adder was launched by a former IGP, Mohammed Adamu to check banditry, kidnapping, armed robbery, and other violent crimes in Nigeria. It was flagged off in 2019.
Among Adamu’s plans was that Operation Puff Adder would be intelligence-led and community-driven. It was also supposed to be executed in sustained collaboration with the Armed Forces, the Intelligence Community, and other sister security agencies.
Operation Puff Adder since its creation has achieved a lot of feats, but banditry, kidnapping, and violent crimes appear to be increasing, then decreasing.
