A joint task force of security operatives has rescued 21 kidnap victims from the rugged Dargaza Hills in Danmusa Local Government Area.
Securitynewsalert.com heard that the operation, which targeted the stronghold of a notorious bandit leader, also resulted in the arrest of four suspects currently being interrogated by state authorities.
The rescue mission was a collaborative effort involving the Department of State Services (DSS), the Nigerian Army, the Nigeria Police Force, and the state’s Community Watch Corps. Their primary target was the enclave of Kamilu Chiroma (widely known as “Buzaru”), a bandit kingpin who has long terrorised the region.
The rescued group, consisting of 16 women, two men, and three infants, had been forcibly taken from Gidan Sarkin Bayero Village in Musawa LGA and several other surrounding locations.
Officials noted that the victims’ backgrounds highlight the random nature of the ongoing security crisis. Of the 21 rescued, 19 are Christians, and two are Muslims.
“This shows the indiscriminate nature of banditry and the government’s commitment to protecting all citizens regardless of religion,” a government spokesperson stated following the operation. “Our focus remains on the sanctity of human life, not the faith they practice.”
The Katsina State Government hailed the “synergy and professionalism” displayed by the various units involved. The successful extraction is being viewed as a major win for Governor Dikko Umaru Radda’s aggressive counter-banditry strategy.
In an official statement, the government reiterated that the Governor’s resolve to restore peace is “non-negotiable.”
“We wish to assure our citizens that the four suspects in custody will face the full weight of the law upon the completion of investigations,” the statement continued. “This successful rescue demonstrates the effectiveness of intelligence-driven operations over brute force.”
