Nigerian Army Neutralises Terrorists, Arrests Criminal Suspects in Nationwide Operations

-

The Nigerian Army has recorded fresh operational gains across the country, neutralising three terrorists, securing the surrender of 25 family members of ISWAP/JAS fighters, arresting 17 criminal suspects, and recovering assorted weapons and equipment in coordinated operations.

On 11 August 2025, troops of 202 Battalion in Bama LGA, Borno State, received 25 ISWAP/JAS family members, 12 adult females and 13 children who surrendered from Zalmari, Gazuwa and Alafa villages. They are currently undergoing profiling by the 21 Special Armoured Brigade.

The same day, troops of 233 Battalion, in collaboration with the Civilian JTF, ambushed terrorists along the Sassawa–Kaburu axis in Damaturu LGA, Yobe State, killing one and recovering an AK-47 rifle. In Zamfara State, 1 Brigade Combat Team 5 foiled a planned terrorist attack on FOB Galadi in Shinkafi LGA, neutralising one attacker and seizing a mobile phone.

Also on 12 August, following intelligence from a rescued kidnap victim, troops raided Gremasa Mountain in Shanga LGA, Kebbi State, arresting eight suspected kidnappers. In Plateau State, Sector 4 of Operation SAFE HAVEN apprehended five suspected pipeline vandals at Kassa Village in Barkin Ladi LGA, recovering government-owned pipes and handing the suspects over to the NSCDC. In Taraba State, Sector 3 FOB Wukari under Operation WHIRL STROKE arrested two suspected kidnap collaborators with incriminating items, including POS machines, ATM cards, and cash.

On 13 August, troops of 34 Artillery Brigade stormed an IPOB/ESN camp at Ndeji Community, on the border of Anambra, Abia and Imo States. One suspect was killed, and troops recovered a pistol with ammunition, cartridges, radios, IED components, mobile phones, and other items. The EOD team safely destroyed two planted IEDs.

The Army said the sustained operations demonstrate its resolve to protect lives and property, safeguard farmers, and support federal government efforts to boost food production for national food security.

It vowed to maintain relentless pressure on terrorists and other criminal elements until peace is fully restored nationwide.
