The Royal Norwegian Embassy has reaffirmed its commitment to promoting peace and good governance in Nigeria by partnering with the CLEEN Foundation on a new project aimed at strengthening the country’s criminal justice system and advancing the Women, Peace, and Security agenda.
Speaking at the project launch in Abuja, the Acting Chargé d’Affaires of the Royal Norwegian Embassy, Michelle Hovi, extended warm congratulations to the foundation, emphasising that the initiative aligns strongly with Norway’s core values.
“Norway is proud to support initiatives that promote peace, justice, and inclusive societies,” Hovi stated. “The work of CLEEN Foundation in advancing accountability, good governance, and community engagement aligns strongly with our shared values and our commitment to strengthening democratic institutions.”
The project will focus specifically on promoting the Administration of the Criminal Justice Act (ACJA) and the Women, Peace and Security (WPS) Agenda across several Nigerian states.
Hovi noted that these areas are key priorities shared by the Norwegian government.
She described the launch as a continuation of a trusted partnership between Norway and Nigerian civil society, built on the belief that “sustainable change comes from the grassroots and within communities.”
The embassy expressed confidence that the project will empower citizens and contribute to a safer, more just society for all Nigerians.
“The Embassy looks forward to embarking on this important work with CLEEN Foundation, and we wish you every success in its implementation,” Hovi concluded.
