Ogun Police Sustains Operational Momentum With Swift Rescue, Arrests

-

The Ogun State Police Command has continued to intensify its proactive and intelligence-led operations under Operation KOSAYE, recording significant breakthroughs across the state. Within the past week, officers rescued an abducted victim in less than 24 hours, arrested 24 suspects, and recovered firearms, ammunition, vehicles, and stolen assets.

Under the leadership of Commissioner of Police, CP Bode Ojajuni, the command has maintained operational alertness and rapid response, ensuring criminals find no haven.

On July 23, personnel from Obantoko Division arrested Ibrahim Aliyu after he was caught vandalising equipment at Goshen Estate. Recovered items included an industrial air conditioner and two generator sets. Investigations are ongoing to determine his involvement in other burglary cases.

On July 26, Owode-Egba Division arrested 27-year-old Zacheus Joseph after he allegedly assaulted a woman at knifepoint in Ofada, stealing her phone and laptop. He was apprehended the same day while attempting to dispose of one of the stolen devices.

Detectives from Ibara Division recovered a stolen Toyota Camry on July 27, which had been reported missing under Oke Itoku Division. The rightful owner was contacted.

Later that day, Iperu Division rescued 29-year-old Sotonwa Oluwameyowa, who had been abducted along Ogere Road. A coordinated search with So-Safe Corps and Amotekun forced the kidnappers to abandon their victim less than 24 hours after the incident. He is receiving medical treatment and responding well.

On July 28, Ajuwon Division recovered a double-barrel gun and ten live cartridges after a violent assault was reported. The suspect fled but left the weapon behind.

In the early hours of July 30, Ewekoro Division foiled an invasion of a cattle ranch in Itori, arresting two suspects and recovering a white Ford bus believed to have been used in the operation.

That same morning, Atan Ijebu Division arrested 22-year-old Shaibu A in connection with the fatal assault of Umaru Musa, also aged 22. The case has been transferred to the State CID for further investigation.

On July 31, a combined team raided a suspected cultists’ hideout in Ibogun Shomi, arresting 17 suspects during an alleged initiation gathering. A locally made short gun and an axe were recovered.

Owode Division also arrested Abubakar Umaru in connection with the theft of a Bajaj motorcycle, which was recovered. His accomplice remains at large.

Later that day, Agbado Division recovered two locally made pistols and one live cartridge abandoned on a perimeter wall, thanks to a vigilant resident’s report.

Commissioner Ojajuni commended the personnel for their prompt response and operational efficiency, reaffirming the command’s commitment to intelligence-led policing and community partnership. He urged residents to remain vigilant and continue providing credible information to aid law enforcement.
