Oyo Kidnappers Make Four-Point Demands, as Terrorists Kill 8 Soldiers in Maiduguri Attack

-

The kidnappers who abducted schoolchildren and teachers in Oyo State have issued a list of demands as a condition for releasing their hostages, sources have revealed.

According to information made available to our correspondent, the abductors are demanding the payment of ₦1 billion into a bank account domiciled in the Benin Republic, as well as the release of suspects currently held at Agodi and Abolongo prisons in Oyo State.

The kidnappers are also reportedly requesting the provision of two Hilux vehicles and, in what analysts are describing as a politically charged demand, the amendment of Oyo State laws to incorporate Sharia law.

Authorities have yet to officially confirm the demands or indicate whether negotiations are underway.

In a separate and deadly development, suspected Boko Haram militants launched a pre-dawn attack on a Nigerian military position in Maiduguri in the early hours of Thursday, killing and beheading at least eight soldiers.

The attack, which reportedly occurred around 3:00 a.m., saw the militants overrun a military post and execute the soldiers. Details of the location and the unit affected are still emerging.

The military authorities had not issued an official statement as of press time. #Securitynewsalert.com
