In a high-level meeting aimed at addressing the recent unrest in Ozoro, the Delta State Attorney General and Commissioner for Justice, Mr. Ekemejero Ohwovoriole, SAN, paid a strategic visit to the State Police Headquarters today, March 23, 2026.
The visit serves as a formal alignment between the state’s executive legal arm and law enforcement to ensure that the “ugly incident” which recently rocked the Ozoro community is met with rigorous legal action. During the meeting with the Commissioner of Police, CP Aina Adesola, the Attorney General expressed the state’s firm stance on maintaining public order.
“We appreciate the Police leadership for their swift response in restoring sanity to Ozoro after the incident sparked such significant public outcry,” Mr. Ohwovoriole stated during the delegation. “The State Government is fully committed to supporting the Police to ensure diligent prosecution of those found culpable. This will serve as a deterrence to others and ensure that justice is served for the people of Delta State.”
In response, CP Aina Adesola noted that he has taken personal oversight of the situation, including visiting the affected areas to engage directly with local stakeholders. The Commissioner emphasised that the investigation is being fast-tracked to transition from arrests to active courtroom proceedings.
“I want to assure the State Government and the public that such incidents will not occur again,” CP Adesola remarked. “I have charged the investigation team to ensure the swift prosecution of those found to be directly involved in this act. The Command remains resolute in ensuring that every identified culprit faces the full weight of the law.”
The meeting concluded with a reinforced pledge from both parties to maintain the peace currently restored in the region. SP Bright Edafe, the Police Public Relations Officer, reiterated that the Command is focused on transparency and legal accountability as the investigation enters its next phase.
