The Plateau State Government has imposed an immediate dusk-to-dawn curfew on three Local Government Areas: Barkin Ladi, Bokkos and Mangu, citing the need to maintain public order and address emerging security threats.
The Commissioner for Information and Communication, Rt. Hon. Joyce Lohya Ramnap, announced that the restriction of movement takes effect from Monday, September 21. It will run daily from 6:00 p.m. to 6:00 a.m. until further notice.
According to the state government, the measure is intended to enable security agencies to stabilise the affected areas, protect lives and prevent a breakdown of law and order.
Residents have been advised to plan their commercial, agricultural and personal activities around the curfew hours.
Security operatives have been directed to strictly enforce the curfew, as well as the ban on motorcycles, across the affected areas. They have also been urged to carry out their duties professionally.
