The Lagos State Police Command today announced that it has arrested a Lebanese after a hot car chase on the Victoria Island of the metropolis.

According to the Lagos State Police Public Relations Officer (PPRO), Benjamin Hundeyin, the Lebanese, identified as John Greg, was arrested after a hot chase by some policemen.

The victim, Omotomi Akinsanya, sustained a shattered leg and had been rushed to the hospital.

Hundeyin, who took to his Twitter handle to share the information, further stated that the Lebanese embassy had also been notified of the incident and the arrest and detention of the suspect.

The image maker said: “On May 4, 2022, 07:45 am, a middle-aged Lebanese by the name John Greg, drove a Toyota 4Runner recklessly and against traffic on Sanusi Fafunwa Road thereby hitting Omotomi Akinsanya, which resulted in serious injuries to her leg. He sped off but was chased and arrested. The suspect is in our custody, while the vehicle has been impounded and at our station. The victim is undergoing treatment at Lagos State University Teaching Hospital (LASUTH). The victim’s family has been duly informed and the embassy of Lebanon duly informed. An investigation is ongoing.”

A Twitter user, wPapi@wellzpapi, who shared pictures of the accident victim, calling for justice, tweeted said: “I just wonder what would make a white guy drive on a one-way street on top speed in VI. He must think that he can get away with anything he does in Nigeria, or he can bribe anyone. This happened this morning. Please share and let it go viral so that they don’t release this white driver from the Victoria Island Police Station. The man was driving on a one-way road, against traffic, and on was at high speed around Sanusi Fafunwa Street, Victoria Island. People had to run helter-skelter for their lives. The driver then drove into Omotola and pushed her against the wall. The impact was so much that the plate number fell off. The driver did a hit and run. He absconded instead of waiting to care. A passer-by took a bike and chased after him. He was caught, brought back, and handed over to the police. Omotola is in critical condition at the Lagos University Teaching Hospital. We seek justice for Omotola and this white man should not be released.”
