Security forces have arrested six suspects in connection with the high-profile kidnapping of Chief Superintendent of Police (CSP) Silas Kundi and his son, Enoch Silas.
The suspects, identified as Yusuf Shuaibu (23), Abubakar Bature (19), Yau Murtala, Bello Suleiman (19), Abdul Kareem Nuhu (36), and Ahmed Musa (28), were taken into custody following an intensive intelligence-led operation.
According to police authorities, the kidnappers had already successfully extorted a ₦24 million ransom from the family before tactical units intervened.
The police operation resulted in the successful rescue of the officer’s son, Enoch Silas. However, the whereabouts of CSP Kundi remain a primary concern.
Officials confirmed that while the son is safe, concerted efforts are still underway to secure the release of the senior officer and ensure his safe return.
This incident highlights a worrying trend in Kaduna State, where high-ranking officials and their families have increasingly become targets for ransom-hungry syndicates.
Investigators revealed that the six men in custody are not small-time offenders; they have been linked to a string of other kidnapping cases across the region.
Police describe the group as part of a larger, sophisticated criminal network, and search parties are currently deployed to track down the remaining members of the gang still at large.
“We are dismantling this network link by link,” a police source stated. “The arrest of these six individuals is a message that no one is beyond the reach of the law, regardless of the target they choose.”
