Police arrest woman for alleged murder of sergeant, recover 12 phones, snail

A woman identified as Esther, was among a gang allegedly arrested by operatives attached to the Ilemba Hausa Police Division for robbery and alleged murder of a police sergeant at the Mojirade Street area of Shibiri, Lagos State.

The Lagos State Police Public Relations Officer (PPRO), a Superintendent of Police (SP), Benjamin Hundeyin, said that the suspects, who were seven in number, were arrested on April 22, 2022, at the Mojirade Street area of Shibiri, Lagos State.

Hundeyin also stated that the suspects were also being investigated for the murder of sergeant Edison Fulman, attached to Zone 2 Headquarters, Onikan, Lagos on 14th April 2022.

The suspects are Esther, Joel, Ruben, Chinedu, Abuchi Peter, Chima, and James.

Items recovered from the gang include a silver-coloured Sienna bus, marked No. LSR 509 HB, a locally made double barrel Pistol and four live cartridges at Mojirade Street, Shibiri, Lagos.

Hundeyin said: “The prompt arrest of the suspects followed a tip-off from Lagosians to the Divisional Police Officer (DPO) of Ilemba Hausa Division who led his men to the criminal hideout where seven members of the gang were arrested while others fled. Items recovered in the Sienna bus include one locally made double barrel pistol, four live cartridges, one machete, one knife, two screwdrivers, 12 mobile phones, and one access bank ATM card with the name Newton Newman, some substances suspected to be Indian Hemp and one dead snail. The suspects are also being investigated for the murder of one sergeant Edison Fulman attached to Zone 2 Headquarters, Onikan, Lagos on April 14, 2022.”
