The Delta State Police Command has intensified enforcement of vehicle registration laws, impounding twenty-six (26) vehicles in Asaba for violations related to number plate regulations.
The operation, personally led by Commissioner of Police, Delta State Command, CP Yemi John Oyeniyi, psc, acipm, mnips, was carried out in line with the directive of the Inspector-General of Police, IGP Olatunji Rilwan Disu, psc (+), NPM. The crackdown targeted vehicles without registration plates, as well as those with concealed, altered, defaced, or otherwise unreadable plates.
Police authorities explained that the exercise is part of ongoing efforts to strengthen public safety, enhance crime prevention, and improve vehicle identification for security purposes. Offending motorists were arraigned before a Mobile Court sitting in Asaba.
Speaking during the operation, CP Oyeniyi urged vehicle owners to comply with registration requirements and properly display approved number plates. He emphasized that the enforcement is aimed at enhancing security and promoting adherence to the law.
The Commissioner further warned that similar operations will be sustained across Delta State. He directed the Deputy Commissioner of Police in charge of Operations to ensure strict compliance across all Area Commands, Divisions, and tactical formations. CP Oyeniyi assured residents of the Command’s commitment to proactive, intelligence-led policing to safeguard lives and property.
