The Police Service Commission (PSC) has issued an urgent warning to the public over a fraudulent shortlist circulating on social media, falsely claiming to identify candidates scheduled for medical examination in the ongoing police recruitment exercise.
The Commission described the list as fake, stressing that no such shortlist has been officially released. According to the PSC, evaluation of the written examination is still in its final stage, and qualified candidates will be formally notified of their invitation for medical examination within the coming days.
“Invitation for medical examination will be communicated to successful applicants in the coming days,” the Commission said, adding that all notifications would be delivered through official channels including email, SMS, the recruitment portal at npfapplication.psc.gov.ng, and other verified Commission platforms.
The PSC used the occasion to reaffirm its commitment to a merit-based recruitment process, noting that the quality of personnel recruited directly determines the effectiveness of the Nigerian Police Force.
Members of the public and applicants were urged to disregard any information not sourced from the Commission’s official channels, and to remain alert to fraudsters exploiting the recruitment process for deceptive purposes.
The Commission also reminded applicants that the recruitment exercise is entirely free at all stages, warning against anyone soliciting payment in connection with the process.
